How we rank
Every tool gets one score from 0 to 100, weighted
45% on its star rating,
35% on how many people have reviewed it (more reviews = more
confidence the rating is real), and 20% on the features that
matter for the job. The list is ordered by that score. Best Overall is our pick for the
best all-around, ready-to-use tool; Best Budget the best value at or under
$10; and Money No Object the one to buy if price is no object.
The features score is built from high tension (30%), flush cut (25%), extra blades (25%), blade storage (20%), capped at 100. The review-count score is on a log scale, so each tenfold jump in reviews adds the same amount, and 5,000 or more reviews gets full marks. Open Why this score on any tool to see its numbers.

Buyer's guide
Why does tension matter?
A tight blade cuts straight and fast. High-tension frames (25,000 to 50,000 psi) keep thin blades from bending and wandering, especially in hard metal.
Which blade TPI?
Use 18 TPI for thick, solid stock and 24 to 32 TPI for thin tubing and sheet. Keep at least three teeth in the material, and install the teeth pointing away from the handle.
Full-size or mini?
A 12-inch frame cuts faster and straighter. Mini and compact saws reach into cabinets and tight spaces where a full frame won't fit.
What's a flush cut?
Mounting the blade at 45 or 180 degrees lets you cut a bolt or pipe flush with a surface.
Bi-metal blades
Bi-metal blades combine hard teeth with a flexible back, so they last longer and resist shattering. They're worth the small extra cost.

TOOLAN
TOOLAN 8-in-1 Multi-Blade Hand Saw: Drywall, Hacksaw, Jab Saw and Wood Cutter
4.42,431 reviews$18.98
A handle that clamps short blades, sold as a hacksaw, though it has no frame to hold a blade in tension.
Why we'd skip it
A hacksaw works because the frame pulls the blade tight. This tool holds blades by one end only, so a thin metal-cutting blade flexes and wanders instead of cutting straight.
It claims all eight blades are high-speed steel, including the drywall and wood blades, which are normally carbon steel.
If you want one tool that cuts metal and works as a jab saw, the LENOX HT50 and Klein 31430 are real high-tension hacksaws that convert to jab saws.
