Real data, ranked. No fluff, no filler.

The 10 Best Floor Jacks

2-ton to 3-ton hydraulic floor jacks for cars, SUVs and trucks, low-profile and high-lift, ranked from live Amazon data.

A floor jack lifts one corner or end of a vehicle so you can set jack stands under it. We ranked 10 best-sellers on rating, review volume and features (a dual-piston pump for faster lifting, a low entry height, at least 18 inches of lift, 3-ton capacity and a stated ANSI/ASME safety standard). Match the jack to the vehicle: low-profile jacks slide under sports cars and sedans, high-lift jacks reach SUVs and trucks. They run from about $46 for DNA Motoring's 2-ton to $170 for Jack Boss's aluminum 3-ton. Never work under a car held only by a jack.

How we rank

Every tool gets one score from 0 to 100, weighted 45% on its star rating, 35% on how many people have reviewed it (more reviews = more confidence the rating is real), and 20% on the features that matter for the job. The list is ordered by that score. Best Overall is our pick for the best all-around, ready-to-use tool; Best Budget the best value at or under $60; and Money No Object the one to buy if price is no object.

The features score is built from dual piston (25%), low profile (20%), high lift (20%), ansi (20%), three ton (15%), capped at 100. The review-count score is on a log scale, so each tenfold jump in reviews adds the same amount, and 5,000 or more reviews gets full marks. Open Why this score on any tool to see its numbers.

What changed

We re-check every listing on this page on a rotation. The most recent changes:

Buyer's guide

What capacity floor jack do I need?

A floor jack lifts one end or corner, so it carries well under the vehicle's full weight. A 2-ton jack covers most cars; 3-ton gives margin for SUVs, minivans and pickups. Check the curb weight and pick a jack rated at least three-quarters of it.

Low-profile or high-lift?

Measure from the ground to your car's jack point. Low-profile jacks start around 3 to 3.5 inches for sports cars and lowered sedans. SUVs and trucks need a jack that lifts 18 inches or more so you can fit a stand under them.

What does dual piston mean?

A dual-piston pump moves more fluid per stroke, so the saddle rises to the car in a few pumps instead of a dozen. It doesn't add capacity, just speed.

Can I work under a car on a floor jack?

No. Hydraulic jacks can leak down or slip. Lift the car, set jack stands under the manufacturer's support points, lower the car onto the stands, and only then get under it.

Aluminum or steel?

Aluminum jacks weigh less to carry around but cost more. Steel jacks are heavier and cheaper and do the same job in a home garage.

Tools to avoid

Not everything in the search results deserves your money. This one would rank dead last on our scale — here's the listing to walk past, and exactly why.

TONDA

TONDA Floor Jack, 3,800 lb Hydraulic Car Jack, 4.9"-11.8"

3.8 1,321 reviews   $39.99

A small jack with an unclear rating and too little lift for most vehicles. For $6 more, the DNA Motoring 2-ton has a clear rating, lifts higher and rates better.

Why we'd skip it

  • The title and bullets rate it at 3,800 lb, but the spec table says 2 tons (4,000 lb). On a lifting tool, the capacity is the one number that has to be right.
  • It tops out at 11.8 inches, the lowest of any jack we compared. That's not enough to get a tire off the ground on most SUVs and trucks, and barely enough to fit a jack stand under many cars.
  • At 3.8 stars it's the lowest-rated floor jack we looked at.
