Locking metal garage cabinets with shelves, drawers and pegboard, ranked from live Amazon data.
Ranked by ToolboxTop10 from Amazon data captured Oct 10, 2026. How we rank
A tool cabinet is a tall, lockable cupboard for power tools, cases, paint and supplies, the things that don't fit in a drawer chest. Most of Amazon's best sellers are 71- to 75-inch steel cabinets with two locking doors and adjustable shelves, plus a few shorter and rolling models. We ranked 10 on rating, review volume and features (casters, pegboard and hooks, a drawer and a keyed lock). They run from about $100 for a compact rolling cabinet to $190 for a cabinet with drawers and pegboard. For drawer chests, see our rolling tool chests.

How we rank
Every tool gets one score from 0 to 100, weighted
45% on its star rating,
35% on how many people have reviewed it (more reviews = more
confidence the rating is real), and 20% on the features that
matter for the job. The list is ordered by that score. Best Overall is our pick for the
best all-around, ready-to-use tool; Best Budget the best value at or under
$120; and Money No Object the one to buy if price is no object.
The features score is built from wheels (30%), pegboard (25%), drawer (25%), keyed lock (20%), capped at 100. The review-count score is on a log scale, so each tenfold jump in reviews adds the same amount, and 7,000 or more reviews gets full marks. Open Why this score on any tool to see its numbers.

Buyer's guide
Tool cabinet or tool chest?
A tool chest is a stack of drawers for hand tools and small parts. A tool cabinet is a tall cupboard with shelves for power tools in cases, paint, chemicals and bins. Most garages end up with both.
How much weight can the shelves hold?
Check whether the rating is per shelf or for the whole cabinet. The steel cabinets here are rated 120 to 180 lbs per shelf where the listing says; the Sterilite plastic cabinet is 40 lbs per shelf. Put heavy cases on the bottom shelf either way.
Should I anchor it to the wall?
Yes. A 71-inch cabinet loaded with tools can tip if a door is pulled hard or a child climbs it. Several here include a wall anchor or anti-tip kit; use it, especially on a sloped garage floor.
Are wheels worth it?
Casters let you roll the cabinet out to clean behind it or move it to the work, but they make it less stable. If you add wheels, make sure at least two lock, and anchor the cabinet when it's parked.
What does a 3-point lock mean?
A 3-point lock bolts the door at the top, middle and bottom when you turn the key, so the door can't be pried open at a corner. A single-point lock only latches in the middle.

Yizosh
Yizosh Metal Garage Storage Cabinet with Locking Doors and Adjustable Shelves, 71" Rolling Steel Tool Cabinet
4.45,166 reviews$279.99
A $280 cabinet whose star rating and review count belong mostly to a different, cheaper model. Buy the $144.99 Yizosh two-door that earned those reviews, or a rolling cabinet with its own track record.
Why we'd skip it
Its 5,166 reviews and 4.4 stars are the same pool as the Yizosh two-door cabinet on this page, which costs $144.99. Amazon groups the listings, so the rating tells you little about this one.
The description is copied from that model: it repeats the "180 lbs per shelf" and assembly text word for word, changing only the shelf count.
At $279.99 it costs $135 more than the two-door, and more than the GangMei cabinet that adds drawers, pegboard and four locking areas.
The listing gives a 43.3 in width, so it isn't the same size as the cabinet most of the reviews describe.
