Battery-powered wet/dry shop vacs ranked from live Amazon data, from 2-gallon jobsite vacs to a 9-gallon garage vac.
Ranked by ToolboxTop10 from Amazon data captured Oct 8, 2026. How we rank
A cordless shop vac handles spills, car interiors, and jobsite dust without hunting for an outlet. Most best-sellers are 2 to 2.6-gallon vacs sold as bare tools for an existing battery platform; a few come as kits with batteries. We ranked 10 on rating, review volume, and features (a HEPA-rated filter, a blower function, a brushless motor, and whether a battery is included).

Already own batteries?
Batteries only fit their own brand's platform, so the best tool for you is often the best
one that runs on the packs you already have. Here's our top-ranked pick on each platform on this page.
A tool-only model skips the cost of a battery and charger you don't need.
Tools sold as "compatible with" another brand's batteries aren't listed here. They're made by third parties, and the battery brand doesn't warrant them.
Where the deals are
The tools ranked here come from DEWALT, Milwaukee, Seesii, Makita, CRAFTSMAN, ReliaRoads, EGO, and WORX. Prices on these brands move week to
week on Amazon, and the deepest cuts usually land around Prime Day and Black Friday.
Every price button on this page opens the live listing, so you always see today's
number, not the one we captured on 2026-10-08. If your pick is over budget
right now, check back in a few days — DEWALT and Milwaukee rotate through sales and bundle
deals often.

How we rank
Every tool gets one score from 0 to 100, weighted
45% on its star rating,
35% on how many people have reviewed it (more reviews = more
confidence the rating is real), and 20% on the features that
matter for the job. The list is ordered by that score. Best Overall is our pick for the
best all-around, ready-to-use tool; Best Budget the best value at or under
$100; and Money No Object the one to buy if price is no object.
The features score is built from hepa (35%), a blower port (25%), a brushless motor (20%), a complete kit (20%), capped at 100. The review-count score is on a log scale, so each tenfold jump in reviews adds the same amount, and 10,000 or more reviews gets full marks. Open Why this score on any tool to see its numbers.

Buyer's guide
Do cordless shop vacs have enough suction?
For spills, car interiors, and jobsite dust, yes. Compact cordless vacs run roughly 35 to 57 CFM; plug-in shop vacs of similar size quote more. If you need to pull water out of a flooded basement, the 9-gallon EGO (110 CFM, 100 in. of water lift) is the only cordless pick here that's in that range.
Should I buy a bare tool or a kit?
If you already own DEWALT, Milwaukee, CRAFTSMAN, Makita, or EGO batteries, buy the bare vac on the same platform and save the battery cost. If you own none, a kit like the Seesii or WORX costs less than buying a name-brand bare vac plus a battery and charger.
How long does a battery last in a shop vac?
Vacs drain batteries fast. Listings on this page quote 20 to 30 minutes on a compact vac at full power, up to 60 minutes with a 5.0Ah battery on the Makita, and up to 60 minutes in ECO mode on the EGO with two 6.0Ah packs. Plan on a spare battery for anything bigger than a car.
What do CFM, water lift, and kPa mean?
CFM is airflow, which moves light debris like sawdust. Water lift (in inches) and kPa both measure sealed suction, which lifts heavy debris and water. Brands publish different ones, so compare like with like: the Makita lists 57 CFM and 27 in. of lift; the Milwaukee M18 FUEL lists 50 CFM and 47 in.
Do I need a HEPA filter?
For drywall, concrete, and sanding dust, yes; a regular filter lets fine dust blow back out the exhaust. Most vacs here ship with a HEPA-rated filter. The EGO and WORX use cartridge filters that aren't listed as HEPA.
Can a cordless vac double as a dust extractor for my sander?
The Makita XCV11Z is sold as a dust extractor and has a filter-cleaning system for that job. The others can connect to a tool's dust port with an adapter, but the compact tanks fill quickly.
Tools to avoid
Not everything in the search results deserves your money.
This one would rank dead last on our scale — here's the listing to walk past, and exactly why.
The headline numbers don't hold up. A 21V battery vac can't draw 3000 watts, the suction figures contradict each other, and the copy describes a different, heavier vac. The Seesii kit costs the same and makes believable claims.
Why we'd skip it
The title claims a 3000W motor, but the listing gives 21 volts and two 4.0Ah batteries. 3000W at 21V would pull about 140 amps, far beyond what those packs can deliver.
It lists 915 kPa for "daily use" and 25 kPa for "heavy-duty". The everyday mode can't be 36 times stronger than the heavy mode; 915 kPa is about nine atmospheres.
The spec table says the vac weighs 3 lb, while the bullet text says "At only 8lbs".
The bullets repeat the Seesii listing nearly word for word, so it's unclear which specs describe this product.
